New Life
My dear friend has been thru what I would describe the most trying and emotional month I can imagine. She was expecting her 3rd baby in 3 weeks when she got the news that would change her whole life. Her husband was in a tragic car accident while he was away at work leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. The day seemed like a nightmare that we couldn’t wake up from, nothing seemed to be real and didn’t feel real until she dropped me off after spending the day at the UofA hospital and I just fell apart. I didn’t know how to deal with what was going on and I wanted to be strong for her so she could have a rock to lean on, we have always been that for each other no matter what. The week to follow took a terrible toll on her and her baby, living at the UofA, pacing miles a day and having every little thing running thru your mind.
Her docter induced her a week early and we were off to the Grey Nun’s to have baby on Tuesday April 27th. Megan found out with her other two babies what she was having but this one she wanted it to be a surprise. Denny and Megan asked me to be in the room when they had Jaxyn so when she asked me again for this baby my feelings were undescribable.
At first we thought we would have to skype the birth with Denny at the Glen Rose so we had everything all set up and ready to go. Megan just started skyping with him and her nurse walked in and asked “so tell me again why he isn’t here with you?” Megan told her we didn’t think it was possible because of the care Denny required. The nurses said if he can sit in a wheel chair or lay in a bed to get him here! So she called Denny’s charge nurse and he arrived in a cab an hour later. With Denny in the room she finally felt a sense of peace and was finally ready to have this baby. Nathaniel Dennis Ross was born at 2:37 and put into his daddy’s arms seconds later. There wasn’t a dry eye in that delivery room and it was so nice to cry tears of joy rather than pain. Denny and Megan got the little boy that they were meant to have, one more miracle to be thankful for and cherish in their days to come.
I am so deeply honoured to introduce baby Nate.
There was a lot of love flowing around in that delivery room that day and I can’t express in words what it was like to be a part of it and share it with two people I love very much.
